Wildlife Issues

LaSalle County Animal Control does not pick up wildlife. If you find a wild animal on your property, please contact the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR). In most instances, IDNR will recommend you hire a nuisance wildlife control operator (NWCO) to remove the animal or bird causing the problem. NWCOs are licensed through IDNR and must follow strict guidelines for capturing, handling, and transporting the wildlife. Please note that any NWCO personnel are independent and will charge a fee for their services.

If considering trapping and relocating a nuisance animal, you will need a live trap permit. Live traps must have a IDNR permit to be legal, else risk being fined. Permits are free and can be obtained through the Illinois Department of Natural Resources: Nuisance Permit Application
