The Health Educators maintain contact with the media and community organizations. The Health Educators manage a library of educational materials, literature, and audiovisual equipment that are available to LaSalle County residents and organizations.
Low-income women die from breast and cervical cancer more often than other women. These high mortality rates are attributed in part to the fact that these women generally do not receive regular mammograms and Pap Smears. As a result, cancers are diagnosed at later stages when it is more difficult to treat and the chances for survival are less.
The Smoke-Free Illinois Act went into effect on January 1, 2008. This law prohibits smoking in all indoor public buildings and places of employment and is designed to protect employees and the public from secondhand smoke.
